Campaign Funding Policy

How campaigns are funded on One Million Africa, from the moment a sponsor proposes one to the day its impact is reported.

One Million Africa wants every contributor to understand how a campaign works before they give. The following applies to all campaigns on this platform.

Who sponsors a campaign

Each campaign is sponsored by a corporate organisation, such as a bank, a professional services firm or another registered company. The sponsor is named on the campaign page.

Who benefits

Each campaign supports a defined social cause, such as education, health, or community development. The campaign page describes the cause and the community or organisation it serves.

Funding goal and campaign period

Each campaign page shows the funding goal and the dates on which the campaign opens and closes.

What the funds support

Each campaign page describes what the funds raised will purchase or support.

Fees and deductions

25% of each contribution is deducted to cover financial administration, payment processing, system support and general secretariat costs. The remaining 75% goes to the campaign project.

Refunds

Contributions are non-refundable, except where a payment was made in error or duplicated.

If the goal is not met or is exceeded

If a campaign does not reach its goal, the funds raised will still be used for the campaign project. If a campaign exceeds its goal, the surplus will be allocated to another community project, subject to the sponsor's approval.

How and when funds are disbursed

Funds are released once a project completion certificate has been provided.

How impact is reported

The results of each campaign, including how the funds were used, are published in the One Million Africa news.

No prize or financial return

A contribution is a voluntary gift to a community project. It does not give the contributor any prize, entry, financial return or ownership interest.
